A Wonderful Place to Stay

A region to be proud of

However long you are staying at Cotswold Conference Centre, it’s worth knowing something about the wider location, which includes an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The north Cotswolds is one of the prettiest parts of England and we are placed high on the Cotswold escarpment, with views over the entire Vale of Evesham.

The Vale of Evesham is a region which produces some of the UK’s finest produce. Our local farms are famous for their asparagus, soft fruits and plums. The local organic cheese producer has won numerous awards. You will be eating local foods when you dine at Farncombe Estate.

If you’d like to extend your stay, we will be delighted to help if we have the bedroom space. To book accommodation only, please call reception manager Lesley Stretch on 01386 858000.

Local Information
Just a few of the many places to visit near Farncombe Estate:

Broadway – 2 miles by car or approx 1 mile on foot
The picture-postcard Cotswold village lies just below the Cotswold escarpment. There are honey-coloured stone houses and old-world charm, along with fantastic shopping and dining. In the 1600s, Broadway was a popular staging post for coaches travelling between Worcester and London. Centuries later, it played a pivotal role in the development of the Arts and Crafts movement: William Morris was a regular visitor and Gordon Russell establishing his furniture workshop in the village. The Gordon Russell museum tells his story today.

Chipping Campden – 3 miles
A stunning old wool merchants’ town which hosts its own Music and Literature Festivals every year. Campden is also famous for the Robert Dover’s “Olimpick” Games, a feast of fun which dates back to 1612 and features a Shin-kicking Contest. Campden is said to have England’s perfect High Street with tea rooms, boutique shops and smart hotels.

Stratford-upon-Avon – 14 miles
Birthplace of William Shakespeare, Stratford has always been a magnet for tourists and theatre-lovers. A recent facelift has made it a joy to walk in the parks and gardens which straddle the Avon. Swans and ducks swim amongst the barges and pleasure boats. Visitors dine continental-style on the pavements. And the newly-refurbished Royal Shakespeare Theatre daily welcomes international visitors for the 2012 World Shakespeare Festival.

Cheltenham – 18 miles
Regency crescents, unique shops, fabulous restaurants, a theatre – Cheltenham Spa is a truly sophisticated town. If it’s retail therapy you need, potter round Montpelier for the day. This is also an excellent area to “do lunch”. Cheltenham Racecourse is home to the Gold Cup, the flagship steeplechase in the British horse-racing calendar, held in March every year. Cheltenham is also famous for its international festivals: Literature, Jazz, Science and Music…
