Views that inspire
Taking the long view
“WHAT is this life if, full of care, We have no time to stand and stare?” W.H.Davies
Our location is the first thing you notice. Cotswold Conference Centre sits on the edge of the Cotswold Escarpment, with views of the Vale of Evesham spread out before us.
It’s a panorama that changes with the seasons and with the time of day. In winter, the bright lights of Broadway twinkle below us. On a clear Spring morning, you’ll have a clear view of the Malverns and even the Black Mountains of Wales to the west. To the north, you will often be able to see the Wrekin in Shropshire, the Lickey Hills and the city of Worcester.
Why do we make so much of the view? Because it’s a great metaphor for what we do. When you arrive stressed and overwhelmed by a never-ending To Do List, our view stops many of you in your tracks. As you drive across the top of the Estate, through the boulevard of poplars, past the lovely old Foxhill Manor, you enter another world. Our views may be the inspiration you need to transform your working day into something worthwhile.
At night, we also have an uninterrupted view of the stars. Gresham College has chosen us for its Astronomy Weekends as “one of the darkest sites within easy reach of London.” BBC Stargazing Live has us listed as a potential filming location for a clear night sky. When you are used to urban light pollution, it’s easy to forget how amazing it is to stand and look at a sky full to sparkling with constellations.
We work here ever day and we still find it inspirational. We hope it will inspire you too.
